Campus Involvement

As as first generation student at the University of Tennessee Knoxville, It was a very hard transition from being around family to being on my own. However, this campus made it so much easier to connect with people from all around the world wo had similar interests as me. During my freshman and sophomore years, I became a member of Campus Events Board and got so many opportunities because of that. CEB opened my eyes to organizations on campus that were made for and ran by students at the university. I got an opportunity to lead and plan events as well as being awarded the "Unsung Hero" award at the end of my first term as a member.
From there, I joined many organizations and even got the chance to fulfill some leadership positions. Including being a member of Sophisticated Queens Unafraid and Driven, Senior Peer Mentor for the Multicultural Mentoring Program, Treasurer for Melanin Mental Health Alliance, and President of Black Students for Artistic Expression.
In my leadership role as President for Black Students for Artistic Expression, I've gained a lot of recognition and received a staggering amount of campus engagement. This includes local news segments and articles surrounding the events put on for the annual B.A.E. week, Outstanding Commitment to Community Award at the 2024 Center for Student Engagement Awards, and a magazine piece dedicated to the organization in Ablaze Magazine (pictured above). Below are links to the publications about B.A.E.
